Jade is a member of the GB Rhythmic Gymnastics group. Great Britain already have a host nation place at the Olympics but the BOA (British Olympic Association) will only allow a team to use the place if they can demonstrate that they can give a ‘credible performance’. British Gymnastics decided that the team had to achieve a score of 45.173 over 2 routines at the London Test Event (January 16th – 18th). in the first round of the competition, the girls missed the target required by 0.273 (eqivalent to a knot in a ribbon, or taking a step to one side to catch a piece of apparatus). In the 2nd round of the competition, the girls EXCEEDED the score required by nearly 2 whole marks but British Gymnastics will not take this into consideration.

The girls have clearly demonstrated that they can give a credible performance and indeed, in the 2nd round, they beat teams ranking 10th and 13th in the World.
The girls, knowing how much committment and hard work would be needed to get to the Olympics have all taken a year out of education so they can train full time (6 days a week, 7 hours a day).
The girls are totally SELF-FUNDED, they get no money at all from British Gymnastics.
