The Carpenters Arms requires a part-time, casual member of staff for Friday and Saturday evenings and additional hours covering functions.
Main responsibilities will be to assist in the kitchen and wait and clear tables.
We are looking for a person 16 or over, or who has officially reached school leaving age, (this could mean you are still 15). We would prefer someone who lives in the village.
You must be smart, reliable and keen to learn. All gratuities are payable directly to staff and do not form part of hourly rate of £5.50.
Please ring Bob or Barbara on 822997 or 824637.
Isn’t that below minimum wage? Or are you looking to employ under 21? I’m not having a go – I genuinely don’t know.
There are different levels of NMW, depending on your age and whether you are an apprentice. The current rates are:
£5.93 – the main rate for workers aged 21 and over
£4.92 – the 18-20 rate
£3.64 – the 16-17 rate for workers above school leaving age but under 18
£2.50 – the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship

Yes, that is my point Donald. I know the National Minimum wages. Bob hasn’t specified an age requirement yet the wage is below adult minimum. I just wanted clarification of the age as there might have been some ‘older’ interest.
As I advertised 16 or over or of school leaving age, it would have been apparent to most I was looking for a student.
The vacancy is now filled by someone from the village, resulting from this entry. Thank you Donald.
