South Marston Jubilee Weekend

Plans are continuing for celebrations of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee:

Friday 1st. June in the Church – concert, with wine and cheese.

Flowers throughout the Church being arranged by many of the village groups and organisations. Please come to a meeting in the Church on Tuesday 17th April at 7.30pm to discuss plans and arrangements for the flower displays. Anyone who is interested will be made most welcome.

Saturday 2nd. June – closing the road outside the school so that there will be a Jubilee picnic. Highworth Silver band have been booked to play on the Glebe outside the Church, South Marston School children will be singing, and there will be face-painting and other activities for children.

The fancy dress competition is to come dressed as your favourite Royal figure from British history! Adults are welcome to come royally dressed too.

Commemorative mugs are being printed and South Marston Parish Council has generously paid for them so that every child at the village school and pre-school will receive a free mug. They will also be available to buy over the Jubilee weekend.

Further plans are being developed.

Date of next Jubilee meeting: Tuesday 10th. April at 7.30pm. in the Carriers Arms (back room if the pub is busy).
