World War 1 Centenary

2014 will mark 100 years since the start of the First World War. Within government, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport is leading plans to build a commemoration fitting of this significant milestone in world history, working alongside partners including the Imperial War Museums, Heritage Lottery Fund and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

South Marston Parish Council is also drawing up plans to mark the Centenary and would like residents to put forward any ideas they may have for commemorative activities. The Parish Council is parcularly keen to gather any information about who fought in WW1 from South Marston, and the impact this had on their families.
