Following the loss of our local bus service, there are three new transport options available for residents of South Marston.
F&E Harris Memorial Trust minibus to Swindon Town Centre
Generously funded by the F&E Memorial Trust, this minibus runs every Thursday to allow residents to reach the bus stop at Sainsburys or Swindon Town Centre
Do you need to book? No
Departs: Thursday at 9:30am
From: Adjacent to the village car park (next to the school) and then the bus stop near the Village Hall
Stops at: Sainsburys bus stop and College Street, Swindon Town Centre
Final stop: College Street, behind Debenhams Department Store, Swindon Town Centre.
Returns: Thursday at 12:30pm
From: College Street, behind Debenhams Department Store, Swindon Town Centre.
Stops at: Dunelm bus stop, opposite Sainsburys (We recommend residents are at the stop at 12:30pm for collection)
Drops: Bus stop near the Village Hall and then the Village car park (next to the school)

Community Transport Scheme
The Community Transport Scheme, also funded by the F & E Harris Memorial Trust, is run by the Royal Voluntary Service. This free, door to door service requires notice so it is best to arrange your transport as soon as you can and register with the Royal Voluntary Service.

What you need to use it: Be a resident of South Marston, age 55 or over, do not have access to your own transport (This includes temporary loss of access) and registered with the Royal Voluntary Service.
Cost: Free for journeys of less than 100 miles
Do you need to book? Yes. We recommend you book as soon as you know you need the service. Book by calling 0744 2508654. They are open Tuesday to Friday 9am to 12pm. An answer machine operates outside of these hours.
The South Marston Shopper Bus
This service is an accessible door to door service for people who do not have access to transport and operates on a flexible route. Bookings should be made in advance and require a days’ notice. This service is supported by Swindon Borough Council.
Departs: Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10:30am onwards
From: South Marston. Collection point varies depending on the bookings for the day.
Stops at: Sainsburys
Final stop: Swindon Town Centre. Deposit point varies depending on the bookings for the day.
Returns: Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 1:30pm
From: Swindon Town Centre. Deposit point varies depending on the bookings for the day.
Stops at: Sainsburys bus stop at 1:40pm
Drops: South Marston. Deposit point varies depending on the bookings for the day.
What you need to use it: Be a resident of South Marston, do not have access to your own transport (This includes temporary loss of access) and have booked a place.
Cost: Return fare to Sainsbury’s £3.00. Return fare to Swindon Town Centre £4.50. Swindon bus passes can be used on this service
Do you need to book? Yes. Telephone 01793 616 050 after 12pm Monday to Friday to register and book your place. Journeys can be booked up to one working day in advance (i.e. Book on Saturday for Monday, Tuesday for Wednesday, and Thursday for Friday)
