Friendly Club Bucklers Hard -2009

Tuesday 23rd June 2009

Our outing to Bucklers Hard, a themed 18th Century Village, was warm and sunny and an interesting day. The history museum of Bucklers Hard was very interesting. The outward journey took us through the New Forest. We spent a pleasant 30 minutes on a boat cruise on the Beaulieu River after which we roamed around the village and had refreshments. On the return trip we called at Lyndhurst in the centre of the New Forest.

Friendly Club Outing – May 2009

Tuesday 19th May 2009

We went on a day trip to the West Midland Safari and Leisure Park. It proved to be a worth while trip. Despite the wet morning there were plenty of animals to see, the rain did not worry them. We were also able to go around the park again in the afternoon when the rain had abated. On the return journey we stopped at Webbs Garden Centre for a tea break. Some of the animals we saw are shown below.

Friendly Club Outing – April 2009

Tuesday 21st April 2009

Our visit to Milestones in Basingstoke was well received. It is a living history museum and is located inside a large warehouse and depicts streets of shops and trades set out in past times. There are also exhibitions showing the progress through time. We were also entertained by staff showing how people coped through the war years in a comical way. Some of us were well aware of these inventive ideas and “make do and mend” as we were children during the war.
