From sowing and growing to harvesting and preserving.
Following a quick introduction into the history and geography of herbs, Lynda will explore why we should all be growing our own, and how a beginner can get started with little cost and effort. From tools to sowing and planting out, she’ll cover herbs in general with a more detailed look at four specific varieties.
The second part of the talk covers harvesting and preserving, including drying and freezing herbs, as well as how to make herb oils, vinegars and butters, with some samples for the audience to try for themselves.
Lynda will bring handouts which include a schedule for work to do over the year.
£3 entry fee on the door or join the Gardening Club for £12 (annual membership).
Parking available at Old Vicarage Lane, next to the school.
