There will be a ‘drop in’ information event at South Marston Village Hall on Thursday 3rd October from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
SBC officers will be in attendance to answer questions and give any updated information related to the New Eastern Villages development.
The Parish Council has arranged an extra information event that will be held in the village towards the end of August.
This will be attended by Borough officers dealing with highways changes linked to the NEV developments, including the White Hart and Gable Cross junctions, and will also cover any changes to the local plan.
This event is similar to those being held in other parishes currently and offers an alternative for residents in the village.

Each year, South Marston Parish Council undergoes both an internal and external audit to ensure that it is effectively managing its finances and that its internal processes are working. Members of the local electorate are welcome to request to view the accounts of the Council.

PARISH OF SOUTH MARSTON
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that two casual vacancies have occurred in the office of Councillor for the Parish Council following the resignation of Councillors James Burfitt and John Haines on 18th March 2019 and 19th March 2019, respectively.
Rule 5(2) of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules, 2006 now applies.
The rule allows for ten local government electors for the South Marston Parish to request the Returning Officer to hold an election to fill the vacancies. That request must be made within fourteen days excluding dies non. The fourteen-day notice period ends on 15th April 2019.
If a request for an election to fill the said vacancies is made in writing to the Returning Officer, by TEN electors for the said Parish, an election will be held to fill the said vacancies.
Requests must be made in writing to The Returning Officer, Swindon Borough Council, Room 1.2, Civic Offices, Euclid Street, Swindon, SN1 2JH.
If a request to hold an election is not received during the permitted time period Rule 5(5) of the above rules will apply. The Parish Council must, as soon as practicable after the expiry of the fourteen-day period, co-opt two persons to fill the vacancies

Clerk to the Council
South Marston Parish Council
The Parish Council Clerk, Gary Vickery, has found that clerking is not for him and that the time requirements of the job do not fit well with his other interests. He has formally resigned but will carry on until Easter.
The PC are analysing the role of clerk and will be separating out the financial aspects of the job, which over recent years have become increasingly technical. Gary, who has a background in management consulting, is continuing to assist us in this.
