The Parish Council has obtained an update from the Environment Agency on the recent pollution incident in the stream off Highworth Road.
The incident was categorised as significant and did cause some localised damage to water quality and life in the watercourse. The pollution was traced to a surface water outfall originating from the South Marston Park industrial estate but the actual source has not been found despite extensive investigations.
The water quality has now recovered and will be monitored until later in November but there are concerns this may occur again as the source has not been identified.
If anyone notices anything then it should be reported on the 24/7 incident number 0800 807060. The reference number for this case is NIRS 01987713 which should be quoted.
